DICO New Beginnings Challenge

I made this card for the Challenge over at Digital-Ink Co. and it really is prettier in real life:

here are the requirements taken from the blog

"New Beginnings DC0014
Our challenge is to create a card or layout using the following recipe: gold or silver/gray or black and something glittery, ribbon, and incorporate some kind of distressing. Also we would love to read some of your New Year’s resolutions."

This was kind of a tough one for me. I had this image from Reece's Designs and wanted to use it.  Colored with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS  I started out with black CS for the base....light gray CS embossed with CB Textile Embossing Folder inked with black ink....black & light gray CS cut out with oval nesties and edged with silver leafing pen...sentiment cut out with deckle edge nestie....black organza ribbon..tag with 2010 written with silver leafing pen....I used silver stickles on the ribbon and card and glass effects on the truck windows. I inked all the edges for distressing.  The sentiment says  "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow"  and is computer generated.

I don't normally make New Year's resolutions but I do have some things that I want to work on:
1.  Get my digital images and files organized
2.  Learn to take better pictures of my cards
3.  Do better with my swaps
4.  Keep on top of  family birthdays (they have a way of sneaking up on me) and get cards mailed on time
5.  Learn how to say No...I sew for a living full time and end up with tons of side jobs that I don't want to do        because I can't say no and it takes away my time for crafting.  My craft time is important to me and I need to take it back.
I think that's it.......and if anyone has any tips they would like to share for the first two I would love to hear them.

Go over to Digital-Ink Co. Challenge Blog and see what the Design Team has done and get in on the challenge.  You could win.

I feel like I have talked your head off so I will sign off for now.  Have a great day!!!!!

Another Winter Card

I am liking using images that I didn't use for Christmas for Winter cards.  It makes me look at them differently.  I didn't realize that I get stuck inside the box....lol.  I am going to make an effort to look beyond the initial thought for an image.  Does that even make sense...?    Anyway...on to my card.....

This image is a freebie from Wendy at Digital Doodling. I love all of Wendy's images. Here is what I used:   Paper is K&Company, Oval Nesties, $1 Stamp, Flower from stash, $1 gems and Scribbles.  I colored it with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS.  I really like blue & brown together. But then I really like brown with a whole bunch of colors..lol.  I hope you like my card.   See ya later!

Winter

This is a card for an upcoming Winter card swap in a group I belong to:

I really liked this image and didn't get to use it on a Christmas card.  So when my group posted a Winter card swap I thought it was perfect.  Determined not to use anything even remotely close to Christmas colors I settled on these.

I used DP from K & Company.  (I love their papers). I embossed CS with a cuttlebug embossing folder, sponged green ink over it and cut it out with a Nesties scalloped rectangle.  I then layered the free image from Pollycraft (I'm sure...lol) with 2 shades of pink CS cut with Nesties..... added an organza  ribbon, some gems and punched snowflakes.  The "all bundled up" and "winter" sentiments are the clear $1 stamps from Michaels.  I added Diamond Stickles to the snowflakes and the word winter.   Oh.....and I colored it with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS...but you knew that already....lol.

I wasn't sure about the colors but I think I like it.  What do you think?

Digital Doodling

I am posting this because I need to make a correction

I had posted these cards earlier and stated that the images were from Pollycraft.  They are not.  They are freebies from Wendy over at Digital Doodling.  I am so sorry.  If  you haven 't been to her blog it is worth visiting.  She has adorable images and cards.  The blue card is her Christmas Belle image, and the second one is her Mrs. Tilly Clause.  I am looking forward to more images from Wendy.  The holly leaves are from Jules.  Again I am sorry for the error.  My New Years resolution is to try and get some kind of organization with images.  I have a new card to post tomorrow.  It has to dry  So until then have a good night!

And now the last of my Christmas Cards:

This image is from Jules.  I think it is a beautiful stamp.  It seems so peaceful.  I colored it with Prisma's and OMS and cut it  out with Nesties Labels One.  I used a snow writer for the snow and designer paper from my stash.

This one is also an image by Jules.  He is called "Wrinkles".  He is for the Asst. Mgr. at work.  He has been wanting a bulldog so I thought this was perfect for him.  The Santa hat came from Squigglefly.  I used diamond stickles on the white part.  The sentiment out of the $1 stamp bin at Michael's.

This image is Emma from Fred, She Said .   I think it is adorable.

And last but not least:

This card is for my boss.  The images are Season's Tweetings from Angels Landing.  I can't seem to get enough of these easel cards.  I just love them.  I used my Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, oval and scallop circle nesties, diamond stickles, another $1 bin stamp and paper from my stash.  And of course...... you guessed it......Prisma Pencils and OMS.

So I am officially done with Christmas Cards now.  I am really looking forward to the New Year and excited about all the things that are coming up.

Until next time.......Happy Crafting!!!!

Last Minute Christmas

I have been trying to get together a few last minute cards and gifts for my co-workers.  I decided to on desktop calendars. Here are 2 of them:

This one is an image from Squigglefly.  I colored it with my Prismas and OMS.  I stamped the 2010 and cut it out with an oval nestie.  I printed the calendar,  cut the months out and put them together with rubber cement so the pages can be torn off one by one.  The paper is from K & Co.  I got some acrylic picture frames at the Dollar Store to put them in.

This one was done the same way.  The image and sentiment are from KLM Designs.

I hope they like these.  I can see myself doing these again.  They didn't take much time.  The acrylic frames made them difficult to photograph.  After Christmas things will slow down andI am going to figure out how to take better pictures.  That could be my New Years Resolution.  At least one I can keep...LOL!

More Charlie

I just love Charlie!  He has got to be my favorite Christmas character.

This first card is a Spring Card.  Image by Jules. I used glitter glue on the trees and mistletoe and faux flowersoft (HollySoft) on the snow.  The tutorial for the snow can be found here.  When I find the tutorial again on the Spring Card I will post it.  (I lose more stuff on here).  And again..lol...colored with Prisma Pencils and OMS.  I got a 36 pencil set from Michael's in the fall.  I used a 50% off coupon.  I didn't know if I would use them much so I didn't want to spend too much.  WELL!  Who knew they would be my all-time favorite thing!?!  I have since added a pencil here and there and have around 55 pencils.  I have used them so much that they are getting real short. So I told Santa that  I want the 132 set for Christmas.  A girl can dream....and when I dream I have visions of 132 Prisma pencils dancing in my head....LOL!

Anyway, on to the next card... ( I get carried away with my pencils....)    This one is another Charlie from Jules.  It is her newest one.  I think after hanging out with Holly he doesn't want to take a trip around the world.....

Colored and cut out with Circle Nesties and paper & ribbon from my stash is Charlie not wanting to go....poor Charlie!

You can  get all the Charlie's over at Jules Stamp Place or at Digital-Ink Co.

Off  to get ready for work...Have a great day!

Challenge at Digital-Ink Co

I already had this image and saw the challenge over at DICO so decided to make a really quick card.

The image is a stamp created by Lil Diva Stamps at Digital Ink Co.  I colored it with Prisma Pencils and OMS and cut it out with Oval Nestabilities.  The paper is from my stash.  I added organza ribbon and  done.
After coloring I think it took less than 10 minutes.  Great for last minute.

My husband loves for us to watch a movie together at night so I sit in my recliner and color.  We are both happy and I have digi's colored for my stash....lol

My GraficO Customer Blog Hop

Today is the first My GraficO Customer Blog Hop.  It is also my first one.  We were to use a design from one of their  designers.  I chose to do a very simple card using images from Lindsays Stamp Stuff.

The flower is from Lindsay's Doodle Flower set and the sentiment and background paper are her add on freebie.  (The flower reminds me of felt flowers).  I added a ribbon and that was it.  To follow the blog go HERE.  Make sure you leave them some love.  You can check out My GraficO here.

More Christmas Cards

These are more Easel Cards.  I really like making them.

This is another free image from Pollycraft:

This one is a free image from Cuddly Buddly:

This is from Pink Cat Studio:

Another one from Cuddly Buddly:

And lastly the Santa and little girl is an embossed Rubber Stamp image..don't remember where from..I've had it quite a while.  The digital Image is another one from Pollycraft:

This is my start on Christmas Cards.  I still have to make them for my co-workers and some for personal yet. And Christmas is right around the corner....I better hurry...lol

Some Christmas Cards

This is my first attempt at making shadowbox cards:

The first is an image from Dustin Pike.  The second a free image from Pollycraft.  Circle Sentiments are from The Cutting Cafe.  I used my oval nestabilities to cut out the ovals, CB snowflake and swiss dot embossing folders.  Images are colored with Prismas and OMS.  As usual the photos don't do them justice.  I'm still trying to get a handle on photographing cards.
