LSS Thursday

I was on vacation last week and didn't have a post....got in Tuesday night and still am not in a place that I can do much crafting.  I already had this image colored and threw a card together.  Not happy with it so just cropped out the image for you to see.  I have been playing with coloring for a while and this one is colored with Crayola Crayons and baby oil.  This is one of the images from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff  "Nature's Christmas Set"  I really love this set.  You can get this one as well as many other awesome sets at mygrafico.

Whatever you do go and see what Lindsay has on her blog for you today.  She ALWAYS has an awesome project and a freebie for you.  You can find her at The Frugal Crafter.  Then go check out the rest of the DT to see their fabulous projects.  You can find them in my right side bar.

Celebrate Bonfire Night

Hi!!!  I am still on vacation with 2 more days to go.  I am enjoying time with my twin brother and his family.  It is always so much fun to catch up.  The challenge over at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges is Bonfire Night.  At the end of my post I have some history of Bonfire Night if you are interested.

I must say that this one was a challenge for me ... LOL  I made a card without my craft tools.  You forget what is was like without paper trimmers.  I appreciate my craft room all the more now.  Anyway here is my card

Be sure and go see what the rest of the Design Team came up with.  Some very talented gals.  You can find their blog links in my left side bar.  Now I am going back to my vacation...have a great day!

The History of Bonfire Night ... November 5th
Four hundred years ago, in 1605, a man called Guy Fawkes and a group of plotters attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London with barrels of gunpowder placed in the basement. They wanted to kill King James and the king’s leaders.

When Queen Elizabeth 1st took the throne of England she made some laws against the Roman Catholics. Guy Fawkes was one of a small group of Catholics who felt that the government was treating Roman Catholics unfairly. They hoped that King James 1st would change the laws, but he didn't
Catholics had to practise their religion in secret. There were even fines for people who didn't attend the Protestant church on Sunday or on holy days. James lst passed more laws against the Catholics when he became king.

A group of men led by Robert Catesby, plotted to kill King James and blow up the Houses of Parliament, the place where the laws that governed England were made.
The plot was simple - the next time Parliament was opened by King James l, they would blow up everyone there with gunpowder. The men bought a house next door to the parliament building. The house had a cellar which went under the parliament building. They planned to put gunpowder under the house and blow up parliament and the king.
Guy Fawkes was given the job to keep watch over the barrels of gunpowder and to light the fuse. On the morning of 5th November, soldiers discovered Guy hidden in the cellar and arrested him. The trail of gunpowder at his feet would never be lit.
He was tortured and questioned about the other plotters. To start with he didn't tell the soldiers anything about the plot. But, eventually he started to tell the truth.

In celebration of his survival, King James ordered that the people of England should have a great bonfire on the night on 5th November.
The event is still commemorated annually in England on 5th November by fireworks and burning "Guys" (effigies) on bonfires.

Dreamcatcher

Hi everyone!  I am still in sunny Florida on vacation.  The weather here is soooo beautiful!  I am in no hurry to go home and break out my coat.  I have 4 more days to enjoy the sunshine.  I made this card in a hurry before I left.  I love this image.  It is now one of my new favorites.

I colored the image with Prisma pencils and went to my stash to discover I had nothing Native American or Southwest to go with it so I just used Kraft and Red cardstock and stamped the diamond pattern.  When I get home I am going to remove the dots and re-do them ... they are out of whack.  I decided to post anyway so you could see the awesome image.  You can find this image at Daisy's Digi Doodles and it is only $1.00.  Go over and check out all the new stamps Miss Daisy has.

And while you are doing that I will be out soaking up some sunshine...LOL  I have a post scheduled for Monday's Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges and then you won't hear from me until I get home and get settled in.  While I have been here I have spent time with my Twin brother , SIL, and their Children and Grandchildren....and my oldest Son, DIL and my grandchildren.  I am having a wonderful time.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day!!!!

DD Challenge - Manly with an Autumn theme

Gosh time sure goes by quick.  Time already for the new Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges Challenge.  This one is a card for a Man with a Fall theme.

I really had fun with this card.  I love the Stamp TV technique videos.  This one was distressed stripes background.  The background was done one stripe at a time using distress and pigment inks.  I then printed out the Leaves from Daisy's Digi Doodles and sponged the color on.

Go over to Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges and get your card in.  I love making cards for the fellas.  We have a family full of them...LOL.  Then go by the rest of the DT Blogs and see what they have for you.

DD "Rebecca"

Miss Daisy is on a roll with new stamps.  This is "Rebecca"

Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday.  It's like Christmas without the pressure and stress of presents.  Family gets together and just has a good time with lots of food.  What could be better?

This is my very first attempt at distressing the edges.  I have always just used ink.  I used scissors and I am thinking with practice I am going to like it.  I have always liked the distressed look but was afraid to try it.  I tend to lean towards CAS.  I colored her with my Prisma Pencils and OMS.  You can find her as well as some other brand new stamps at Daisy's Digi Doodles.

I am entering this in these challenges:
Charisma Cards  -  Autumn Colors
Fab 'n' Funky  -  Use a Digi Image

I have several cards in mind using this image.  You can see this image as well as a whole store full of awesome images at Daisy's Digi Doodles.   I colored this with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS.  This image is so pretty it can stand on it's own without a lot of embellishment.

Happy Birthday Reno

My youngest son .. Reno ..  had a Birthday last Thursday the 30th of September.  He was 24.  Here is the card I made for him.....

Reno is a golfer so I thought this image perfect for him.  I used Daisy Doodles  "Fore! Freddy"  Digital Stamp.  You can find this stamp at Daisy's Digi Doodles for your golfer.  The Happy Birthday banner is also Dasiy Doodles.  On the inside of the card I stamped  "Anyway you slice it,  you are the best!".  Anyway he liked it and that is all that matters.
